When the first group started, they were called ‘Chair Based Exercise’ to offer an inclusive exercise class for all levels of mobility.

This has led to some confusion as people assume the whole class is carried out seated.

As we have developed, we can more correctly be best described as a ‘Functional Fitness’ class
where we offer cardio, strength and balance workouts. The ‘chair’ is only used as a support in some activities.

Functional fitness for older adults focuses on exercises that mimic everyday movements, improving strength, balance, and mobility
to enhance their ability to perform daily tasks with ease and independence.

It's a safe and effective way for people to stay active and reduce the risk of falls and injuries.

All welcome, whether a regular exerciser or a novice. All you need are flat shoes.

The group is delivered by a qualified instructor and is suitable for all levels of mobility as activities can be adapted to meet individual needs.

We are now running two exercise groups on a Tuesday morning.

The first 45 minute session starts at 10am and a second session starts at 11am after the first group has finished.
